LAIRD JAMIE:

THE HIGHLANDER HIGHWAYMAN

CAROL DEE TURNER

Jamie MacRae has earned every ruthless rumor. A veiled noblewoman offers the impossible: marry her, walk free, and guard a voyage she won’t explain.

From prison stench to creaking deck, danger forges a bond neither planned and a future worth fighting for.

About the Author

Carol Dee Turner is the author of romantic adventures and heartfelt mysteries that travel from Newgate’s gallows and the high seas to desert kingdoms and the American frontier.
A Michigan native, Carol served in the U.S. Women’s Army, with postings in California and France. After military service she joined Eastern Airlines, working for twenty-two years in Chicago and Miami. When the airline closed, she brought her steady, detail-minded skills to a range of offices—including a private investigator and a church—collecting the textures of real life that later animate her fiction.
Her first book, A Deadly Renovation, was published in April 2019. Weeks later, her beloved husband, David F. Hanson, died in a motorcycle collision. Writing became both refuge and resolve, and her novels carry the imprint of that season: ordinary people choosing courage, communities showing up, and love that holds fast.
Carol now lives in Florida with a pack of rescue dogs who believe every lap is their lap. When she isn’t drafting a daring escape or a slow-burn romance, she’s reading history, plotting small-town mysteries, or walking the pups.

The Retired Major's War

Major David Price has survived war but not peace. He retreats to an inherited cabin in the Virginia woods, hoping for quiet. Then a bloodied woman staggers across his threshold, and armed men arrive minutes later. Training takes over. Before the night is done, three men are dead, and the Major knows this is not a story he can bury. He says you need to know what led to his killing of civilians, and how killing can come too easily when someone is trying to kill you. What follows pulls him back into a world of corruption, payback, and the cost of living with what a soldier has done in the name of survival. This is a confession and a reckoning, a love story and a ledger, and the hardest fight of all is the one a man wages with himself.

THE HIGHLANDER HIGHWAYMAN

Condemned at Newgate, Jamie MacRae meets an impossible offer: marry a masked noblewoman and walk free—if he’ll guard a dangerous voyage. From prison stench to creaking deck, peril forges trust, and a marriage of convenience learns the cost—and power—of honor.

When a Paris-spiraling socialite lands in Aradune, Prince Raj takes a ruthless gamble: exile her to a hidden oasis to break free then enlist her in a visionary desert-reclamation plan. In a court of rival agendas, mercy becomes treason and love risks everything.
